ASYRAS is pleased to announce the 7th ASYRAS Conference, under the title New Voices in English Studies, which will take place online via Google Meet, 17-18 June 2021. The Conference is intended as a forum where early-career specialists in English Studies can present the results of their research. The Conference will count with presentations by three plenary speakers: Prof. Rosario Arias Doblas (University of Málaga), Prof. Javier Calle Martín (University of Málaga), and Dr. Sara Prieto García-Cañedo (University of Alicante). Our goal is to foster a scientific meeting for the exchange of current research from a variety of perspectives.

Given the current situation, we have finally decided that hosting this event online was the most sensible decision. We will work hard to ensure that the higher academic standards are maintained, making use of the best online tools available. We will hopefully be able to meet in person as soon as possible for our next academic gathering. However, to make up for the lack of social interaction, we will send you a surprise pack! Make sure to include your postal address when you register.

The Conference will be arranged in thematic sessions and will consist of 20-minute paper presentations followed by a 10-minute discussion. Proposals will undergo peer review by specialists in the different fields. We will consider proposals from any field related to Anglophone Studies, ascribed but not limited to the following areas:

  • Acquisition and teaching of First, Second and Foreign Languages
  • Bilingualism and multilingualism
  • Comparative literature
  • Contrastive and translation studies
  • Corpus linguistics
  • Critical Theory
  • Cultural studies
  • Diachronic and synchronic linguistic studies (phonetics, phonology; morphosyntax; semantics; lexis; discourse…)
  • Digital Humanities
  • Disabilities Studies
  • Ecocriticism and Animal Humanities
  • Gender Studies, Feminism, LGBTQi Studies
  • Postcolonial Literature
  • Sociolinguistics
